![]() Last but certainly not least, the Sectoids can now reanimate corpses and create Psi Zombies, which can be very dangerous in their own right if they get within range. A new ability called Mindspin allows them to initiate a psionic attack that can have any of the aforementioned effects (including Mind Control), though the chance of each will be smaller because it seems to choose between them at random. The Sectoids are also capable of disorienting your soldiers or cause them to panic and miss their turn. As always, you won’t have to worry too much about their plasma weapons so instead focus more on avoiding their psionic abilities, particularly Mind Control, which you’ll now have to deal with very early in the game. This time around, the Sectoids are taller, more humanoid in appearance, and have quite a bit more health than in the past. The Sectoid has been a staple of the series since the very beginning, though the variant you’ll come across in XCOM 2 is quite possibly the most dangerous one so far. We will not be discussing any ADVENT troops here because they are only partially alien and most of them are fairly easy to dispatch by regular means so let’s just save some time and start talking about the actual aliens, shall we? SECTOID Thus, I took what I learned from playing over 200 hours of XCOM 2 and created a comprehensive guide aimed at helping rookies who might be a bit overwhelmed by the game’s difficulty and veterans doing an Ironman playthrough where underestimating the enemy can easily lead to losing soldiers in a heartbeat or even losing the whole game. Although this makes perfect sense in the context of XCOM 2, it doesn’t really help you that much if you want to know all there is to know about the aliens beforehand. The game is designed in such a way that you get to learn about your enemies only after you take one of them down and bring it back to the lab for analysis. Not only are we constantly in a battle against time here, but some of the new aliens are also considerably tougher to take down and even the old ones have a few new tricks up their proverbial sleeves. In spite of the fact that Enemy Unknown was a pretty difficult game in its own right. GOTY editions are all said and good, but don't make us buy them just to buy new content. As a long-time veteran of the series, I was delighted to see that Firaxis opted to make XCOM 2 even more challenging than its predecessor. ![]() I hope you are working on Terror from the Deep, but don't do it like this again. Side note to Firaxis: I am a little disappointed in you. I would recommend this to anyone who hasn't played the game yet, but if you do, don't bother with XCOM: Enemy Unknown. If it had been a DLC, I would have scored it a 8.5 out of 10, but since it was released as a package, I have to grade it the way I see it on the whole. But at the very least I will say, yet again, I still liked it. however it looks like Firaxis either was lazy or playing it too safe to change anything that actually needed changing. Overall: I was a bit disappointed as I had expect some more prominent additions to the main campaign. While I get that it includes new features that affect core gameplay, it still could have been a DLC, or at least given the option Again, I reiterate, I still thought XCOM: Enemy Within was very good, but just doesn't offer enough extra content to warrant a re-release. or Dragon's Dogma & Dark Arisen Same problem, but at least VP:TIP & DD:DA had significant additions that did revolutionize the gameplay. This kind of reminds me of Viva Pinata & Viva Pinata: Trouble in Paradise. If I had waited a year, I could have gotten the exact same game, and saved allot of money. After buying XCOM: Enemy Unknown last year and ALL the DLCs that have come out since, this copy made me feel a little cheated. XCOM: Enemy Within is nothing more than a Game of the Year edition, just with exclusive content added. Only the EXALT mission do give it a bit of fresh air, but the focus is to little and it's over far too quickly. All campaign missions play out exactly the same, regardless of the content. If anything the additional content feels tacked on, and really does not give you a feeling of playing something different. ![]() The additional content is very good but adds very little to the existing campaign. The additional content is very good but adds very little to the existing As a DLC this would have been perfect.
